Arta - Ovaro

Distance: 40 km

Positive elevation gain: 1250 m

The tour starts in Arta Terme. The climb begins from Sutrio, a picturesque village that opens the doors to breathtaking scenery. The route winds through the alpine huts that dot the mountains, offering a panoramic view of the surrounding valleys, Val But and Val Degano.

The trail follows forest roads immersed in broadleaf and fir woods, crossing alpine meadows that provide a respite for the eyes and invite a short break. The variety of natural environments makes this stage particularly fascinating and engaging.

At the end of the day, you reach Ovaro, where an overnight stay is planned in a cozy hotel, ideal for recharging energy in view of the next stage.

1st Stage

Ovaro - Arta

Distance: 35 km

Positive elevation gain: 1150 m

The following day, we depart from Ovaro to return to Tolmezzo. This stage does not require major climbs, the route crosses the Val di Lauco, a valley rich in history and culture. Along the way, you encounter numerous picturesque villages and the remains of ancient early Christian tombs, which testify to the long history of the region.

The route winds through lush forests and plateaus offering fascinating views, making the return journey equally exciting and engaging. The variety of natural environments and the presence of historical evidence along the route invite you to stop from time to time to admire the surrounding beauty and reflect on the rich cultural heritage of the Val di Lauco.

Finally, the effort is rewarded by a nice descent on magnificent trails and here we are back in Tolmezzo.

1st Stage

Day 1

Val Degano and Valle del Piave

Distance: 35 km

Positive elevation: 1630 m

Start your journey in the picturesque Val Degano, a valley rich in history and traditions. Cycle through its natural beauties, admiring the breathtaking views. Continue towards the Valle del Piave, famous for the river of the same name. Travel the paths along the river, enjoying the tranquility and scenic beauty. Overnight in Sappada among its peaks.

Day 2

Val Frison and Val Lumiei

Distance: 38 km

Positive elevation: 1585 m

On the second day, explore Val Frison. This valley offers trails immersed in fir woods, ideal for breathing fresh and pure air. Continue your itinerary towards Val Lumiei, an enchanting valley with breathtaking views of the Friulian Dolomites. Cycle through the highland meadows, admiring the local flora and fauna. Val Lumiei is perfect for nature lovers. Overnight in Sauris, with tastings of ham and beer.

3rd Stage

Val Pesarina

Distance: 35 km

Positive elevation gain: 1250 m

The last day of the tour takes you to the beautiful Val Pesarina. Explore the trails that wind through the valley, enjoying the view of the Dolomite peaks. End the day with a relaxing stop for the last lunch, where you can savor typical dishes and reflect on the natural wonders discovered during these three days.
